Exhibition Maritime District
Saturday 9 November onwards the exhibition Maritime District at the Glashaven 46 opens. Learn more about the history, architecture, art and developments in this special area of Rotterdam.
Together with Waterstadgenootschap Rotterdam we have organised an exhibition about the interesting history of the Maritime District. The lively harbour vanished completely after the bombing in May 1940. After World War II the area had been designated as a business district and a harbour for inland waterways ships. After the year 2000 the district slowly changed into a dense high-rise living area.
Discover the stories behind the buildings and visual art, companies and street names. What has remained and what has disappeared, moved or added? Starting with the name of this area: from Waterstad to Wijnhavenkwartier to Maritime District.
